Bruce Chaplin

Bruce has been in the industry for +30 years and has a comprehensive knowledge of the facility management through his work at Telstra, ICI (Orica) and Burns Bridge. He established FM Essentials in 2003 and is now a recognised authority and market leader in facility management, ESM compliance management, and asset management software development. His consulting experience includes commercial projects for Westpac, Origin Energy, Medibank, plus the upgrade of the Qantas Maintenance Hangar at Melbourne Airport, and 650 ANZ Bank Branches.

He has also provided an advisory role developing the FM solution for several major PPP bid submissions across Australia and New Zealand (commercial, hospitals, schools, correctional facilities), and worked with local, state, and federal governments, and quasi-government organisations, such as Aboriginal Housing Victoria, Port of Melbourne, the Alfred, and Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre. He leads the industry in innovation and best in class approaches to asset and maintenance management, including software solutions.

Matt Capper

With +25 years’ experience in FM Operations and Customer/Contract Management for large portfolios, Matt has previously worked for ISS Facility Services as Regional Accounts Manager for the South Pacific region for Hewlett Packard, managing a team of 12 Facility Managers and overseeing multi-million-dollar contracts. He has also performed various roles for Johnston Controls across the Asia Pacific Region and was responsible for the ExxonMobil Global Real Estate account consisting of 20 properties across Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.

His specialities include Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, and Transformation Management, through which he has generated savings for clients worth millions of dollars.

In his time at FM Essentials he has worked with NAB, Baptcare, Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), the Barristers Chambers Limited, and SEEK, delivering current state gap analysis, strategic FM & Workplace advisory, and end-to-end procurement services for new and existing portfolios.

Metthew Cheetham

Matthew has +20 years’ experience working in commercial real estate, facility management, and workplace services for large multi-nationals (Lehman Brothers, ANZ, Westpac, NAB) and brings a wealth of international knowledge to the table. To date he has delivered FM & Workplace operations solutions for >20 capital projects in the UK and Australia (>750K sq.m), and leasing initiatives in countries throughout EMEA. This includes premium commercial buildings and tenancies, the development and implementation of new models to support and enhance Activity Based Working/Agile/Real Time Working environments in numerous headquarters.

He has worked as the Operations Lead for ANZ 100 Queen Street, NAB OneNAB, Medibank Place, Westpac 150 Collins and International Tower Two, Origin Energy 321 Exhibition Street, SEEK Cremorne Street, and Vicinity TowerONE (amongst others), creating innovative solutions with a strong focus upon “the experience” for staff, customers, and clients, as well as “the asset”.

He is now a highly regarded expert in FM & Workplaces of the Future.

Troy Chaplin

Troy worked for +10 years as an in-house Facilities Manager and Senior Facilities Manager for the CBA, Bank West, and ANZ, managing multiple sites across VIC, TAS and SA on both the retail and premium commercial portfolios, and has also spent time working on other medium to large portfolios including AAMI, Suncorp, and GE. The Services Business covers building and facility management, ESM compliance management, and auditing. Troy joined FM Essentials in early 2017 as the National Services Manager and is responsible for the strategic management and development of the business, to ensure quality and efficiency in delivery, and continuous improvement in all aspects of governance, policies, and process and procedures, to optimise our outputs.

His building management and facility management clients have included Nillumbik Shire Council, Assis Aged Care, Australian Nurses and Midwifery Federation, and, most recently VincentCare Victoria, as well as providing SME inputs to assist the Consulting Business in the development of technical documents for Barristers’ Chambers Limited and VincentCare Victoria’s projects.

He is an expert in all aspects of maintenance, most notably, asset data and completion documents, maintenance planning (scheduling), ESM compliance management, and contractor management, and has considerable knowledge of the regulations and their application for clients.
